RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA (January 22, 2024)—Open LMS is proud to report that as of January 5, 2024, it has attained ISO 27001 certification. The platform has been audited by A-LIGN, an ISO / IEC 27001 certification body accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) that has performed over 2,000 similar ISO Assessments.
ISO 27001 Certification is an established and internationally recognized cybersecurity standard published in October 2013 by the International Organization for Standards (ISO). It focuses on the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data handled and stored in a given environment, and these are defined as follows:
- When data is confidential, it’s protected from unauthorized disclosure.
- Maintaining data integrity means ensuring that data remains accurate and complete.
- Ensuring availability means that information will always be accessible when needed.
Attaining ISO 27001 Certification demonstrates a platform’s:
- Increased resilience to cyber-attacks
- Greater preparedness for new threats
- Advanced data integrity, confidentiality, and availability
A-LIGN’s auditing process included a full review of Open LMS’s scope, policies, procedures, and processes, as well as a full audit of the Open LMS system via interviews, inspections of documented evidence, and process observation. A-LIGN will continue to conduct annual surveillance audits, ensuring that Open LMS remains fully compliant.
“Attaining ISO 27001 certification is an important milestone for Open LMS and a validation of our ongoing commitment to high standards of information security,” said David Ells, Open LMS Managing Director. “Open LMS has always prioritized the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of its clients’ information and customers can feel assured by a formal recognition of that commitment.”
